I Want An Abortion, What’s Next?
Facing an unplanned pregnancy? Here's what to know. If you're reading this, chances are you're feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, or maybe even scared. Take a breath—you're not alone. Many young women have walked this road before you and found answers and support. If you need someone to talk to right now, you can chat anonymously and for free with a nurse at 330-915-6520.
This guide is here to help you take the next step with clarity and confidence.
How Do I Make Sure I'm Pregnant?
Before making any decisions, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually pregnant. Home tests can be a helpful starting point, but they aren't always 100% accurate—especially if taken too early.¹
For a more reliable result, consider visiting a local healthcare provider or women's clinic where you can receive a free, lab-quality test. Knowing for sure gives you a clearer path forward.
When Did I Conceive?
Conception usually happens about two weeks after the start of your last menstrual period.² ³ But everyone's body is different, and cycle lengths can vary. An ultrasound is the most accurate way to confirm how far along you are—and it can also rule out health risks like ectopic pregnancy. We offer this at no cost.
Is Abortion Legal in Ohio?
Abortion laws differ depending on where you live. In Ohio, abortion is legal up to 22 weeks of gestation (counted from the first day of your last period).⁴
It’s also important to know that these laws do not apply to miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy treatment, and you cannot be criminally charged for seeking or having an abortion.
Where Can I Go to Get Free Support and Services?
Navigating an unexpected pregnancy can be isolating—but you don’t have to go through it alone.
At Eva Women's Clinic, we provide compassionate care, factual information, and a space where your voice is heard, at no cost.
Understanding Your Options
While abortion might be the first thing on your mind, it’s not your only option.
You might also consider parenting or adoption—both are real, valid paths that come with challenges and support. If you’re unsure, talking it through with someone who understands can make all the difference. We’re also here to answer any questions you may have about abortion side effects, physical risks, or emotional impact.
Some people feel relief after an abortion, but others report grief, sadness, or regret—sometimes even months or years later.⁵ We will go over all your options and can refer for counseling or post-abortion support upon request (many of which are free of charge).
Emotional and Physical Well-being
Pregnancy can bring a wave of emotions. It’s completely normal to feel unsure, angry, anxious, or even numb. But you don’t have to deal with those feelings alone. Whether you turn to a friend, family member, or trained counselor, finding emotional support is one of the best steps you can take right now.
